So we left today in the late AM to drive to Iowa. We wanted to take the opportunity to combine our vacation this year with a chance for Hank to see Kyle's mom's parents and his father's mother, along with assorted aunts, uncles and such. Right now it is 10 ish at night and we are waiting on a pizza for our dinner in our hotel room in Seymour, Indiana. I wanted to try and load some pictures from today for our first day on the road. We departed today in Alison's dad's Ford F-250, which while lumbering, was very comfortable and safe feeling.
After leaving Bristol we drove through Lee County and over the mountain into Kentucky. Hank got to see his first tunnel.
As we drove in and it got dark, Hank was a little bit concerned, but he held it together with some soothing words from us.
When we made it to the other side, Hank wanted to make sure that the world was still there outside the window.
After we seemingly spent 20 years in Kentucky, we saw the Ohio River and the several big bridges over it into Indiana.
While Hank was being really good considering we spent a large part of the day in the car. As we were trying to find a hotel, Hank was getting a bit fussy, so we gave him for the first time in his life a bottle of apple juice.
It looks like he likes it.
We finally stopped at a Holiday Inn Express in southern Indiana, and as we decompressed, Hank seemed to enjoy flopping around in his Pack and Play.
We are going to try and let him sleep like this tonight.
And then we had some fun in the pool. I have some pictures of Hank in the pool for the first time, and I will get them up hopefully soon.
But Hank loves the water. We spent about an hour in the pool and then came back to our room to sleep so we can drive some more tomorrow.
Goodnight everyone, and special thoughts to Brandon and Mariel and baby Story.
